The Student Mathematics League Test is sponsored by the
American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges. Over seven thousand
community college students from more that 165 two-year colleges participate.
AMATYC gives individual and team awards to persons with the highest scores. The
Clarkston campus math club gives cash awards to the Clarkston students earning
the three highest scores on the test.
AMATYC ELIGIBILITY
Any student at a two-year college who has not earned a
two-year college or higher degree is eligible to compete. Part-time students
are also eligible.
AMATYC TEST FORMAT
The test covers topics up to the level of precalculus
mathematics. Questions may involve precalculus alegebra, trigonometry,
synthetic and analytic geometry, and probability. Questions that are completely
self-contained may be included as well. All questions are short-answer or
multiple choice.
CALCULATORS - Students are permitted to use any scientific
or graphing calculator that does not have a QWERTY (i.e. typewriter) keyboard.
AMATYC TEST DATES
The Student Mathematics League Test is given once a semester.
The test dates for each semester is as follows: Fall Semester - TBA Spring
Semester - TBA

GAINESVILLE COLLEGE MATH TOURNAMENT
The Gainesville College Math Tournament is scheduled for
Saturday, April 3, 2004.
Transportation will be provided by the math club. Students
interested in participating should contact one of the math club advisors.

competing in a tournament at this level is an accomplishment.

get to meet students from other schools who also enjoy mathematics.
